Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section (Towards Kowloon/Tsuen Wan Direction) –
Three-lane Carriageway Traffic Arrangement
(Implementation Period: 5:30 a.m. of 23 June 2024)
The project of Road Widening and Retrofitting Noise Barriers on Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section is anticipated to complete by end of this year. In order to timely alleviate the current traffic congestion along Tai Po Road during peak hours, the road section of Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section southbound between Sha Tin Plaza near Sha Tin Rural Committee Road and Man Wo House of Wo Che Estate near Fo Tan Road will be modified from two-lane to three-lane carriageway at 5:30 a.m. on 23 June 2024 (see attached figure for details):
Under the new three-lane carriageway traffic arrangement, road users shall pay attention to the followings:
- For the destination to Sha Tin Central and Sha Tin MTR Station, road users shall keep left at Tai Po Road near Lek Yuen Estate and take "Exit 2" to leave the trunk road
- Road users shall choose the appropriate traffic lanes near Wo Che Estate,
- For the destination to Tai Wai, road users shall stay in slow lane at Tai Po Road near Wai Wah Centre and take “Exit 1” to leave the trunk road.
- For the destination to Kowloon (West), road users shall keep slow lane or middle lane at Tai Po Road near Wai Wah Centre and take “Exit 1” to leave the trunk road.
- For the destination to Tsuen Wan, road users shall keep driving along middle lane or fast lane.
Road users shall pay specific attention to the new 3-lane arrangement and follow the instruction of directional signs, road marking and traffic signs.
