Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section (Towards Tai Po Direction) –
Three-lane Carriageway Traffic Arrangement
(Implementation Period: 6a.m. of 2 June 2024)
The project of Road Widening and Retrofitting Noise Barriers on Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section is anticipated to complete by end of this year. While, road widening of Tai Po Road between Sha Tin Plaza near Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (STRCR) and Man Wo House of Wo Che Estate near Fo Tan Road will be completed by June this year.
In order to alleviate the current traffic congestion along Tai Po Road - Sha Tin Section, the northbound carriageway (travelling towards Tai Po) of the abovementioned section of Tai Po Road will be modified from two-lane to three-lane carriageway at 6:00 a.m. on 2 June 2024 (see attached figure for details):
Under the new three-lane carriageway traffic arrangement, road users shall pay attention to the followings:
- For the destination to Sha Tin Central and Kowloon (East), road users shall keep left at Tai Po Road near Citylink Plaza and take "Exit 2" to leave the trunk road;
- For the destination to Fo Tan and Penfold Park, road users shall keep slow lane after passing STRCR bridge and take “Exit 2A” to leave the trunk road;
- For the destination to Tai Po and Fanling, road users shall keep driving along the middle or fast lane.
Road users shall pay specific attention to the new 3-lane arrangement and follow the instruction of directional signs, road marking and traffic signs. Commissioning of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin Section Southbound (towards Kowloon Direction) is anticipated to take place on 23 June 2024. The details of the associated traffic arrangement would be announced in a separate public notice accordingly.
