Temporary Closure of Traffic Lane of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin (Northbound)
near Sha Tin Station towards Tai Po with Alternative Routes

(Implementation Period: 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on 19 & 23 April 2024
and 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on 5 May 2024)


Date: 16 April 2024

In order to facilitate the construction works under “Road Widening and Retrofitting Noise Barriers on Tai Po Road (Sha Tin Section)” project, section of Tai Po Road – Sha Tin (Northbound) between Sha Tin Plaza and The Plaazzo & the slip road leading from Sha Tin Rural Committee Road to Tai Po Road – Sha Tin (Northbound) would be temporarily closed from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. on 19 & 23 April 2024 and 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. on 5 May 2024 for sign gantry erection.

During the works period, the affected carriageway will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic. Vehicles need to take the following alternative routes to Tai Po and Fo Tan (refer to the attached Figure):

  1. Ban Turning
    1. All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from making right turn movement from Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Westbound) to Tai Po Road–Sha Tin (Northbound).
    2. All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from making left turn movement from Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) to Tai Po Road–Sha Tin (Northbound).
  2. Traffic Diversion
    1. Vehicles on Tai Po Road – Sha Tin (Northbound) towards Tolo Highway will be diverted via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) → Yuen Wo Road (Northbound) → Sha Tin Road (Northbound) → Tai Po Road–Sha Tin (Northbound);
    2. Vehicles on Tai Po Road – Sha Tin (Northbound) towards Fo Tan Road will be diverted via Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) → Yuen Wo Road (Northbound);
    3. Vehicles on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Westbound) towards Tolo Highway will be diverted via Pai Tau Street → Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) → Yuen Wo Road (Northbound) → Sha Tin Road (Northbound) → Tai Po Road–Sha Tin (Northbound);
    4. Vehicles on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Westbound) towards Fo Tan Road will be diverted via Pai Tau Street → Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) → Yuen Wo Road (Northbound);
    5. Vehicles on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) towards Tolo Highway will be diverted via Yuen Wo Road (Northbound) → Sha Tin Road (Northbound) → Tai Po Road–Sha Tin (Northbound);
    6. Vehicles on Sha Tin Rural Committee Road (Eastbound) towards Fo Tan Road will be diverted via Yuen Wo Road (Northbound);

    During the diversion period, appropriate traffic signs will be erected on site to guide motorists in the above mentioned location.
